Avalon 2.0
As you know there are plans afoot for a reset of Avalon and a complete new game system too.
One of the things that quite a lot of people seem to like about Avalon is that it's fairly gentle to play in terms of your time. We're aiming to try and keep that if you want it, while allowing for more interaction for those that want that.
There are also a lot of things people don't like about the current game, despite the fact we keep playing: farming, combat with more experienced players being impossible and the like and we want to address as many of those as possible.
The proposed system is to have a number of "professional" areas. So far we have adventuring, farming, crafting, healing, tavern keeping, entertaining, duelling, one we're calling resource collecting at the moment but which needs a different name - it will include mining and the like. Everyone will also have begging as a skill. We're certainly open to more ideas for job areas here.
We're also rewriting the combat system. The details are still being pinned down but it seems likely we're changing combat quite dramatically to something that will be heavily skills based rather than stats based in line with the rest of the system. There will be some stats and you can train them.
Finally, the bit that matters to you, the existing players. We haven't worked out what the training and benefits for a starting player are. But there will certainly be some amount of benefit for you guys in a restart. We can never forget the time and effort you've put into the game, and we would like to hear any possible suggestions you might have for making the game better.
Please feel free to let us know what you think. Does this sound like something you might be interested in playing after the change? Do you have ideas for new professions? If you wouldn't play, why not?
We'll be starting a development blog soon so you can see what's going on and contribute. We'll post in the forums asking for comments as we start to come up with ideas that need refining, or as we get working bits of code.
Thanks

Sorry about the downtime folks, the server had some serious database issues which have thankfully been sorted out. Everyone gets some free energy and 2 days donator status. Think of it as an early present for our 6 year anniversary.
